We have been asked to sell the large Antique Collection of the late Della Walker, of Lyndhurst Ont., to include an extensive collection of antiques and a partial inventory of her antiques shop, by unreserved public auction. The entire collection put together over a period of 40 plus years, has been in storage since her passing in 2008. A year or so before that Della inherited the collection of her close friend Ray Clark, a well-known eastern Ontario dealer, who had an extensive collection of 18th and 19th century household goods and furnishings, most of which are included in this sale.


To be held at the Napanee Lions Club hall on Centre St. in the town of Napanee Ont. The hall can be reached from Hwy. 401 by taking the Hwy. 41 interchange at Napanee and proceeding south on Hwy. 41 (Centre St.), through the town, over the Napanee River, through the next set of traffic lights and proceeding approximately 100 yards to the auction site.


Featured in this sale will be nine flat to the wall cupboards, including open, glazed and blind doors in various finishes, most dating from the mid19th century, a Que. Armoire in paint with rat tail hinges, several sideboards, three figured maple chests of drawers, other chests of drawers in both paint and varnish, pail stands, several stretcher based tables in assorted sizes (some with drawers), other harvest tables to include a peg top work table with three drawers, small double stretcher work table in over paint with a drawer, etc., several one and two drawer lamp tables, several sets of chairs dating from the early 19th century to the early 20th as well as singles and pairs, rope beds in original finish, a high post canopy bed in original finish, four country couches including an example in figured maple, a pine transitional chest in paint, pine tall case clock in original painted surface with wooden works, mantle clock, gingerbread, weight clocks, Victorian marble clock, tool chest with an elaborate interior c1860, blanket chests, sea chest, document boxes, two multi-tier painted wall boxes, hanging spool rack, etc., an assortment of early lighting to include coal oil, whale oil and candle, lamp parts, Della’s passion was Victorian art glass and she collected a variety to include several styles of vases and ewers in various colours, paper weights, a small quantity of patterned glass (both Canadian and American), several St. John’s type goblets, china to include a selection of flow blue from both early and late periods, transfer ware in various colours and a large quantity of oriental china and decorative items, pewter, wooden ware to include a rare layered heart maple sugar mold, several butter molds to include a rare fish, cow, etc., 4 child’s chests of drawers, several stoneware crocks and batter jugs, banded mixing bowls, etc. tin toys both windup and push, a rare child’s pull toy horse drawn milk wagon signed “City Dairy Co. Ltd.”, a primitive jack in the box, etc., textiles to include hooked rugs, quilts, hand woven rugs, oriental rugs, a collection of swords and daggers, etc., plus many more items to list.
